The Void: Beau, where are you?

Beau in his entirety...well, as whole as he going to get, here. He might get a little fuzzier, but first let's put him in his cozy setting.

Sketching in Watercolor

The yellow outlines guide orange, ochre and sienna strokes, filling in the soft furry wrinkles in Beau's face. There are drops of pthalo blue in some of the transitions between sienna and ochre.

I would like to give the eyes a bit more detail than I can see in the photograph.

Mary's Holiday in Mexico

Here is a custom Holiday Greeting Card design I did for my friend Mary. She hates our Colorado winters and said this was a far better representation of her ideal winter holiday!

Mary's criteria:
  • night scene on the beach, with lights.
  • gazebo
  • iguana

Print-ready!

Carolyn's Finished Custom Watercolor Holiday Card Design.
I hope you've enjoyed the show.
I will print a set of 25 cards for her and the original painting will hang in pARTiculars Gallery and Teaching Studio.
Next Friday, the 19th of November, is Customer Appreciation Day at pARTiculars Art Gallery!
Come see us from 6:00-9:00 pm, and enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres.

Compelled to paint!

I couldn't stop! Only a few more days before it's time to print greeting cards from this painting.

Little Red Sleigh

I started up again on Carolyn's card in while Lucas hooked up the scanner. I was using my inability to nicely document my work as I went along as an excuse not to paint! But now, I don't currently have an excuse.
So on we go, to Grandmother's House!

Humble Postings

I am overriding perfectionist tendencies and baring my feeble, disorganized artistic efforts, hoping I will persist long enough to show improvement!
Here is the first dabbling of a small painting for a friend's Holiday card. Carolyn loves covered bridges and has three grandkids, which I will try to incorporate in a tiny illustration. It is painted on a 7.5" x 9.75" 300lb piece of cold press watercolor paper.

Carolyn's criteria:

  • Covered bridge in natural wood tones, with snow on the roof
  • grandchildren on a horse-drawn sled
  • snowy landscape
  • blue color theme
  • the letter "C", for the family surname, above the entry to the covered bridge
This will be fun!
